Hi! I'm a Melbourne-based music educator & researcher currently teaching in an independent girls' school. I have taught secondary music across all year levels, including VCE Music Performance and Music Style and Composition, and enjoy conducting choirs as part of my current work. I teach with a focus on music literacy, developing aural skills, understanding style, and encouraging improvisation and composition in the classroom. I also regularly present professional development for music teachers in Melbourne and around Australia. As a research student, I am currently undertaking a Doctor of Education at the University of Melbourne, where I am exploring the role of the Kodály method for music education in the lives of Australian secondary music teachers.
Previously, I have taught at the VCA Secondary School, Alice Miller School, the Song Room and Melbourne Youth Music, having completed my Bachelor of Music at the Victorian College of the Arts, a Graduate Diploma of Education at Deakin University, and my Master of Education at the University of Melbourne. I have completed the Australian Kodaly Certificate, and I am a passionate user and advocate of the Kodaly approach. I have presented at a range of music education conferences and enjoy working with early career and pre-service music teachers and leading professional development for music teachers. Below, you can see me working with teachers in Nepal as part of a Limited Resource Teacher Training project in Kathmandu in 2018.
